Going Green

First it was Al Gore, then Vanity Fair and now Oprah. I try to be trendy and cool and so now I'm going to try to be green...and therefor trendy and cool. I do drive a Prius afterall.

Seriously though, politics aside and the "truth" of the inconvenient truth aside...Leo and that cute polar bear is enough to get anyone to support the environment. After watching Oprah's show from Friday I've decided to do my part. Officially. Instead of just "thinking about it."

Here is what I already to do be good to the environment:
See above comment about driving a Prius.
Wash clothes in cold water.
Keep my heat down to frigid temps in the winter and I don't have air conditioning.
Turn lights off.
Recycle. Kind of.
I rarely drink bottled water. (Did you know it takes 4 gallons of water to produce a gallon of bottled water? What the heck is that all about?)

Here are my plans to be better to the environment:
Switch out my light bulbs to the compact flourescent ones.
Improve upon my recycling efforts.
Reduce my use of paper towels.
Plant a tree somewhere (or pay someone to plant a tree somewhere because i have no room for trees).
As I start needing new cleaning supplies, invest in environmentally friendly ones (who knew clean doesn't actually have a smell? also, toxic cleaning supplies are bad for your health and perhaps that is why my cat Stetson is so crazy because he injests them sometimes?)
Just had to put that out there so folks can make me be accountible for my planned actions.
*Update* It should be noted that I'm just trying to throw a little respect towards mother nature and that i'm still going to do a lot of wasteful stuff because i'm human...so let's just say i'm going more of a mint/sage green rather than a deep forest/emerald green...if you know what i'm saying.
