On Saturday night, Jen and Brian went to a movie so Morgan and I were coloring and making playdoh pancakes...she did something that made me say "Morgan, that makes Mimi sad." She looked me right in the eye and said "cry." Like a dare. The way she said it actually meant "If you are so sad Mimi...I dare you to cry about it." What a crazy girl! You can have little conversations with her and she ALWAYS wants to know if the puppy can come. Sometimes I needed a translator but it is definitely fun to see her little mind work. I don't know what I'm going to do without Morgan telling me what to do now that I'm back home...that girl is too smart for her own good.
We did some fun things in Atlanta like go to a Hibachi grill, the pool, etc. Morgan had a little bit of something that gave her a fever starting on Sunday but it didn't drain her energy she was just a bit fussy...nothing a popsicle couldn't fix.
Brian and I also managed to get in our 12-mile training run. I convinced him to wake up bright and early on Sunday to run...we left the house at 6:30 and it was still dark, a surprise to me since at 6:30 in Denver the sun is blazing already. We got to the parking lot of the trail we were going to run and asked "Was that lightning?" Sure enough, it started raining for the next hour pretty hard and then on and off. We turned around and went back home and went to church. We decided to try it again at 12:45 when it was still a bit rainy. This started as the craziest run and really showed Brian and I's dedication to this stinking marathon. It was still raining when we started. Brian had never run the trail before so it was quite the adventure. He had to wait for me a few times to make sure we both went in the right direction. We started off with authentic trail running which was authentic mud running and I just kept thinking how I'd end up having to buy new shoes after this...about 1.5 miles in we found a really great trail that was shaded most of the way. Who knew you could run in Georgia in July at 1 in the afternoon and it would be perfect weather...there were pockets of shade that it felt 62 degrees. There is definitely something to be said about running at "sea level" as this was my strongest training run yet...I was running faster than usual. This made me excited to run Chicago, also a drastic decrease in elevation. The sun started blazing towards the end of the run so we timed it just right!
I'm back at work now after getting up at 3:30 am to catch a 6:20 flight from Atlanta that landed in Denver at 7:15. Awesome.
