Must. Get. Canvassing.

One of the greatest stats I saw come from last night's Iowa Caucus:

As many voters age 17-29 as voters 65 and older participated last night -- in previous years senior participation has been 5-times greater than younger voters.

I don't know how to express how frustrated it was to call "previous caucus goers" for the campaign here in Colorado because…and I'm not joking here…every single one of them was over 45 and most were well above 60 (not to mention how fun it was calling people in their 90s). Now, I appreciate the opinion of the older generation…they've lived a long life and have a lot of valid input and expertise (unless of course they support Hillary, then they are living a wasted life). However, they shouldn't be the decision makers and this is a good sign that no matter how ridiculous the caucus system is (and trust me, it's ridiculous…did you see a caucus on TV last night?) it's good that the younger folk are taking an active part and helping make decisions that impact the future of everyone in this country.

I joined close to 100 Obama supporters for a caucus watching party in Denver. It was an Iowa trip reunion (sans Laurie who was being a good mentor) and I honestly thought we'd be there forever waiting for the results…nope…about 7:30 it was projected that Obama would win Iowa and from then on we just watched his numbers climb, waiting for the victory speech. It was kind of like being at a sporting event! It's truly great to see how diverse the supporters of Obama are not only in race but in age, etc. I left there inspired and energized to bring home precinct 512 on February 5th. Must. Get. Canvassing.

I can't find precinct breakdowns for Council Bluffs, but I did realize that Pottawatamie County (the home of Council Bluffs) had Obama come in 3rd. Haters. After I drove uphill…both ways…in the snow!
