Beginning Ink.

I took a fun class today to learn how to screenprint/silk screen/"polyester" screen at Ink Lounge Gallery owned by the fabulous Nicky and Stu Alden.  It was really fun...mostly because as someone who appreciates design, the whole process was very organic.  It was really cool putting that ink on paper and watching not just the designs, but the colors and contrasts.
I did a big ornate B that I then joined with "OK" from another screen...yielding my first "Be OK!" print.   I then added to the B the gold bird (which was from a screen "B is for Bird."  The gold bird was pretty much a big hit for everyone in the class.

I wish I had a garage to do a screenprinting set-up.  Hopefully Ink Lounge Gallery has some "borrow our studio" days coming up, because my head is now full of ideas.
Here are some more photos.  Photos courtesy of The Aldens.

That would be a sweet tat. Well, not as sweet as a Longhorn tat...but still pretty sweet.
