What a whirlwind weekend! I made it to Atlanta with no problem…which is a huge accomplishment considering our pilot had "a family emergency" (luckily they managed to replace him in about 5 minutes)…and then there was that little tornado that tore through downtown Atlanta. The tornado hit right about as we were taking off and, and with my 20/20 hindsight, realized that they slowed us down to avoid the weather but at the time I could not figure out why we were crawling over Alabama.
I then crawled into "Mimi's Bed" in Morgan's room a little after 2am…at about 6am thunder woke her up. She started to cry for Daddy but Mimi was there to the rescue (although, mad daddy props to Brian because he was in that room in .2 seconds flat after hearing her cry). She cuddled into bed with me and even refused the opportunity to go sleep with Mommy and Daddy to instead sleep with Mimi which obviously made me happy (although one slightly smaller than a twin trundle bed is not quite big enough for both Morgan and Mimi). About a ½ hour after that Morgan whispered in a half-sleep "I needed you at Chuck E. Cheese Mimi." It was hilarious! Mama had her call me that earlier in the week to tell me she needed me because Mama and Papa couldn't shoot any baskets in the basketball game so they needed Mimi's help...and she sure remembered.
Saturday was Matthew's (new nickname = Matty Cakes) big birthday party! What a precious little slug he is! I didn't see Morgan until she was two months old so snuggling with a week old baby was fun. He's kind of squeaky too. Morgan is a really good big sister. She likes to hold Matthew and even tells you how good of a big sister she is. I gifted Matthew with a Longhorn stick horse. It's pretty awesome and in the trend of Mimi gifts, completely unpractical. I also got him a onesie that says "I'm Kind of a Big Deal" because let's face it...he is. I also gave Morgan her Mexico dress and some sidewalk chalk that we had lots of fun with.

On Sunday we built the tent Morgan had been waiting for (and dressed her in an Obama shirt…shhh), played with sidewalk chalk, ate Blue Bell ice cream and generally had a pretty good day! We had linner at Taco Cabana (which makes me so very happy) before heading to the train. I laid down with Morgan for a nap on Sunday afternoon and before she went to sleep she asked, "Mimi? Are you going back to Colorado?" I said yes and she said, "Don't worry Mimi. Mama knows how to build the tent."
Getting ready to build the tent...wearing an Obama shirt that says "I'm a little Hope-opotamus"
It's so fun watching Morgan grow up and get wiser and sassier…can't wait to see what little personality comes out of Matthew. We'll see them again in a few months when we head to Savannah for my birthday and mother's day!
