Beyond the Lights

Well, after having a few amazing hours within minutes of landing in Austin...the rest of the hours weren't bad either...in fact, they were fabulous!

A pic before we had to get all "humid"

On Saturday, we headed to the Texas State History museum to see the Dallas exhibit...my family used to sit down and watch Dallas every Friday...probably when I was too young to experience such "adult" themes. But before we headed to the museum, we hit Taco Cabana for some delicious breakfast tacos! If only breakfast tacos would make their way to Colorado!

Agreed.
Mom with the larger than life cast of Dallas...
Brad Pitt was on Dallas?!?!?!!?!?

Following that we went to check out the brand new north end zone of the football stadium...football starts Saturday ya'll, aren't you excited! The inside of the stadium looks completely different than I did last time I was there and all I have to say to our opponents is: "Good Luck."

One of my favorite "views" on campus

The new and intimidating Texas Memorial Stadium...

Saturday afternoon we headed to the fabulous Hyatt Lost Pines Resort about 30 miles outside of Austin. You see, I remember reading about this resort when it opened a few years ago and decided that is where I want to get married (no, I don't have a boyfriend...and no, I don't typically sit around and plan my wedding...but it is what it is). The place is just as fabulous as I hoped it would be, complete with a lazy river pool! We relaxed by the pool, soaked up the sun (literally, since the humidity is 100%) and then went on a sunset float of the Colorado river. It was really relaxing and a nice time.

The Hyatt Lost Pines Resort...they had a gorgeous butterfly garden!

Sunday we spent a few more hours lazying in the river and then headed back to campus to shop at the co-op and visit the tower. I love UT campus...and Austin...I just get such a sense of peace and "home" when I'm there. Finally, we killed a few hours by indulging in a fabulous Mexican Martini at Trudy's before heading to the airport (stopping first to pick up a dozen homemade tortillas and a few tacos for the road).

The world's largest Bevo!

It was a fabulous weekend with my mom. Great memories were created! Love you mommacita! Lots more pics here.
