The past week has been some good old fashioned random fun...starting with the previously-blogged-about Bunco, I went to a free screening of the movie "Flash of Genius" with Nicky on Wednesday at a theatre that gives you unlimited free popcorn and soda! It was a pretty good movie about the little guy taking on the big guy (Ford) after he invented the intermittent windshield wiper and then Ford stole it. Since it rained the next few days, I had a serious appreciation for the intermittentness of the windshield wiper (even though I need new blades)! Greg Kinnear did a great job. Didn't make me want to buy a Ford any more than I've ever wanted to buy a Ford...so you know, bummer for Ford.
I then joined the ladies for wine club on Thursday night featuring the mostly delicious wines of Colorado. Jessica was a great host, per usual. We had a good group...kudos again to Shannon and I for this brilliant idea!
Friday night I went to roller derby for the first time and I must say, it was quite enjoyable! I love their "uniforms." One the Mile High Club team of the Denver Roller Dolls there is a skater named Bria Fraid...totally my new moniker and possible halloween costume.
Finally, on Saturday evening (after spending the afternoon being lazy since the Texas game was postponed thanks to Ike--thinking of all my Texas friends!) I went for some yummy Thai food with Nicky before learning all about this crazy thing called a "Munny" at the Plastic Chapel. Anyway, it was a collection of these toys that designer-type folks decorate...along with a store full of these little unique toy thingies (yeah, I can't really describe it). One of the main ones is called a "Munny" which is funny. Nicky, since she is a designer-type, wants to start collecting them but since the tiny store was a little too packed to make smart shopping decisions, we went next store to The Shoppe, which is very east coast, as it serves cereal and cupcakes. I enjoyed a strawberry champagne cupcake that was delicious and I insisted Nicky purchase a chocolate "Munny" cupcake that came complete with a "Munny" zipper pull baked inside the cupcake...so Nicky got her "Munny" and everyone was happy!
The Roller Derby and "Munny" stuff was a nice little dose of some counter culture in this cow town known as Denver...so fun! Too bad it's Sunday, meaning tomorrow is Monday, meaning back to work. Boo.
