Meet...and Say Goodbye...to Samantha

Those of you who know me, know how much I love the American Girl doll collection. It was a sad day last week when I heard that they were discontinuing my much beloved American Girl, Samantha. Samantha was the only doll (in the series) that I had growing up, and oh I loved her so. The American Girl dolls and book series brought special (and not so special--they were indirectly involved with how I learned the "truth" about Santa) memories to me as a girl.

When we were in Chicago last summer, we bought Morgan her first American Girl baby and I definitely want her to have a Samantha...I should probably get my Samantha to the doll hospital for a check-up since she is soon a collectors item!

If you have kids, I definitely encourage you to introduce them to the American Girls. I just got a catalog and must admit I'm a bit disheartened at the fact that now most of the catalog is devoted to current-day girls, and the emphasis on the historical characters is lessening...although they did put a big focus on Kit, who grew up during the depression...wonder why?
