Yesterday we had our February edition of wine club. Since I was "hosting" I of course mixed things up and we headed to see "He's Just Not That Into You" before hand. It was a really good movie...there were some hilarious parts, endearing parts, all and all, a good time. I think the moral of the story is that everyone has their "rules" and games we play...but in the end, you'll find someone who is an exception to your rules and you'll live happily ever after! (I should also note that Confessions of a Shopaholic is also a great movie...I kind of want to be Isla Fischer).
We headed to my house post-flick to have some dessert wines. I made a spread of desserts (cupcakes!), plus some chicken salad and brie/pear mini-sandwiches. The impetus for this "theme" is that I had a bottle of dessert wine that has been "aging" for close to 5 years from my DC days when Jessica, Aaron and I used to head out to Virginia Wine Country for the most amazing wine festivals. Seriously, these festivals are the stuff dreams are made of as you pay $20 to get in and drink unlimited amounts of wine. Turns out, dessert wine doesn't really get better with age...but I do remember when I bought that wine it was fabulous!
I ended the evening at a going away party for a co-worker who is transferring to our Australia offices and giving me all of her work. I bought her a drink but I almost think she should have bought me a drink since my workload has doubled!
I should also note that Texas upset #2 Oklahoma in basketball yesterday...always good to beat Oklahoma, especially when they would have become #1 had they beaten us. We have generally sucked it up the past few games so I wasn't expecting it. Woo hoo! OU Sucks!
