Nearly 2,700 Donors Broncos Fans Celebrated a Mile High Milestone with Blood Donations at Drive for Life X

DENVER (Oct. 2, 2007) – Denver Broncos fans rolled up their sleeves to create a mile high milestone at the tenth annual Drive for Life community blood drive. Nearly 2,700 donors, including 464 first-time donors, attended the state’s largest blood drive and donated 1,631 units of blood to support patients in need.

Bonfils' Colorado Marrow Donor Program was also successful in registering140 potential marrow donors to the National Marrow Donor Registry.

"Today’s participation from blood donors, Denver Broncos players, alumni and cheerleaders truly made Drive for Life X a mile high milestone,” said Jessica Maitland, vice president of marketing and community operations for Bonfils Blood Center. “After 10 years, this event has hosted nearly 19,800 blood donors and saved and enhanced the lives of more than 59,000 patients. We salute our community for making Drive for Life X a success.”

Drive for Life X is presented by Bonfils Blood Center and the Denver Broncos and generously sponsored by CBS4, Sportsradio 950 The FAN and The Denver Post.

Bonfils Blood Center supplies blood to more than 200 hospitals and healthcare facilities and needs to collect 4,350 donations each week. to meet the needs of the community and to be prepared for any unexpected events.
