Poster Auction

Now...most of you might look at the poster below and not see "art" that you would want on your walls. But not me! I love it! Urban and independent (me) Highlands Square (my neighborhood)...can't get any better than that.

AIGA has a poster auction each year to raise money for art programs that serve underprivileged and under served communities. They solicit poster donations from local and national designers (some of whom are very famous) and they are silent auctioned off. I've been for the past three years and each year I come home with a poster...the first year it was a poster for a Texas Writers event and had a longhorn on it...last year it was a text poster about equality under the title of "We The People." Both of those posters are rolled up in my closet.

Not this one though...I'm going to get 'er framed and hang 'er on my wall. Already have a place picked out. I think its awesome. I even had to fight for it there at the end and get all Tanya Harding on some fellow "Urban and Independent" Highland neighbors. I probably spent more than I should have but its art people...art has no pricetag if it speaks to you ;-) And I do believe its a tax-deductible charitable contribution which is a total bonus.

There were some other posters there that I wanted as well...but I happen to "know" people who are going to hook me up with copies on the side. Sweet.
