We started at the Pepsi Center where we got our first clue...we headed to Jet Hotel to meet with cancer survivors and talk to them about their stories. We then had to create a "creative" poster about their life. We interviewed an adorable 2-year-old named Aiden who wants to be a snowman when he grows up...that's a good goal, I would say!
We then headed to Confluence Park where we had a choice to either kayak/tube down the Platte (which has some pretty significant rapids) or build a tent in which 3 of the teammates were blindfolded. Since I can't even build a tent with my sight, I voted for the river and the rest of the team agreed...Jessica was a rock star and went down the rapids twice in order to grab the token we needed to show at our checkpoint. She even managed to completely flip over in the tube...gold star for Jessica (who was soaking wet and remained pretty damp for the rest of the day)!
Our final checkpoint was at the Bovine Theatre where we had to do Improv. Someday I'm going to do an improv class...Nicky had to guess what we acted out and she did great: Julie was "envy", I was CSI and Jessica was Jessica Simpson. The bummer part was the 16th street mall shuttle broke down and we had to walk a long, long way to get there...thanks RTD!
In between all of these we did a bunch of other random stuff like take pictures with bald guys, collect trinkets from businesses, fundraised pennies and called my mom and made her research Leukemia and Lymphoma online to answer a bunch of questions...Thanks mom!
It was good fun and I'd definitely do it again. I came home and lapsed into a coma (interrupted by coughing fits)...and although it probably delayed my recovery from my illness, I'm so glad we did it...and, I had the most amazing team with the most amazing t-shirts, ever!
