Checking in on the resolutions...

As we near the end of the year, I thought I should check in on my new year's "resolutions" from last year...I blogged about them then, so you my loyal reader (notice the non-plurality) deserve and update...and turns out, I did pretty well!

 

My New Year's Resolutions...at least for today...(from January 2008)

Learn Italian (in preparation for my New Year's Resolution for '09 and that is to take a TRIP TO ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!)

I slacked off on this one a little bit, but it'll repeat on by '09 resolutions.  As for the trip to Italy, it's booked, so I'm head of the game there!  I'm more excited than ever!

Read more books (Short list: The Kite Runner, Three Cups of Tea and whatever beach read I find to take to Mexico)

I also did really well on this one, especially when I was riding the bus to and from work.  I've slacked off the past few months, but have a few good books in the que.  Some of my favorites of the year were the ones I listed above, as well as The Other Boleyn Girl.

Get designin' and craftin' (perhaps I'll open an Etsy shop?)

I dabbled in this a little here and a little there...so I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments on this front.

Ha!  Who would have thought I'd accomplish this one?  Who knew I'd cry a little?  One of the most amazing things ever, for sure.

I never met him, darnit, but "help him get elected?" CHECK!  Next stop, inauguration!

Save money…SERIOUSLY.

There is always more work to be done on this front, but I'm pretty proud of myself for saving some "cash on hand."  Truthfully though, the incentive was much more "trip to Italy" than "save for an emergency" but whatever gets me there.  I just need to keep going, especially considering my measley IRA nad 401k lost some luster throughout the past few months...

Start playing tennis again.

I had so much fun with this one!  I took lessons, joined leagues, and made some great new friends!

Do some fabulousness around my house and plant a nice garden in the back for the garden gnome.

I mostly conquered the evil green bush, but the garden never quite made it...
